Swimmers make waves in Georgia

Tallulah Falls, Ga. – Murphy and Tri-County Early College swimmers from Cherokee County, N.C., placed well and
beat some personal best times during a meet with teams from Clarke Central, Lumpkin County, Rabun Gap and Union County schools.

Placing in the top 10 for Murphy were Ansley Roper, seventh in the 200 individual medley; and Kirra Talent, seventh in the 100 breaststroke.

For Tri-County, Ariana Revis placed second in the 50 freestyle and third in the 100 butterfly. Fern Crayton also had a second-place finish in the 200 free and third-place finish in the 500 free.

Meanwhile, MaryLynn Hulsey was seventh in the 100 backstroke, Jaden Crocker ninth in the 100 breast and Nathan Abejam sixth in the 100 back.

Tri-County’s relay teams also did well:

  • Girls 200 medley relay finished sixth, with Hulsey, Crocker, Tori Jimenez and Iris Diaz-Menchu.
  • Girls 200 free relay finished sixth, with Revis, Tina Trigueros, Hulsey and Crayton.
  • Girls 400 free relay finished third, with Crayton, Trigueros, Revis and Crocker.
  • Boys 200 free relay finished fifth, with Nathan Downs, Elias Diaz, Logan DiCcio and William Boyd.
  • Boys 400 free relay finished third, with Boyd, DiCcio, Nathan Abejam and Diaz.

Swimmers are allowed two individual events in high school meets. Local swimmers with two personal-best times include: Diaz-Menchu, Hulsey, Boyd, DiCcio and Downs.

Swimmers with one personal best time include: Abejam, Diaz, Talent, Crayton, Crocker and Jimenez.
