Lions big weekend
Young Harris College had a successful weekend in athletics. Baseball, Softball, and men’s and women’s lacrosse picked up wins last weekend.
The Mountain Lions baseball team earned their sixth straight win when they swept Southern Wesleyan University. On April 12, they won 17-2 and carried that momentum into a doubleheader sweep on April 13.
The first game they won 13-3, the second game 20-8. They will head to Tusculum University on Greeneville, Tenn., today for their next game.
Softball split a doubleheader with Emmanuel University, where they lost the first game. However, the Mountain Lions bounced back and won the second game to improve to a 27-17 overall record.
The men’s lacrosse team won their third straight game when they defeated Chowan University 13-10 on April 13. They will play their final regular-season game on Friday against North Greenville University.
The women’s lacrosse team won their fourth straight with a 22-12 win against North Greenville University on April 13. They will play their last regular-season game Friday against Lees-McRae College.

Scheffler a Master
As the sun set on Augusta National Golf Club on April 14, Scottie Scheffler secured his second green jacket in three years. Scheffler won his second Masters win in dominant fashion as he won by four strokes over Ludvig Aberg.
Per Masters tradition, the lowest scoring amateur is honored in Butler Cabin following the conclusion of the tournament. This year’s low amateur honor went to Neal Shipley, who made his first Masters appearance.
All eyes were on the golf legend Tiger Woods over the weekend as he broke the record for most cuts made at the Masters. As he went into the final round at one stroke over par, things really fell apart Saturday when he shot his worst round ever in a major championship.
Woods, the five-time Masters champ, went on to finish at 16 strokes over par and in 60th place.
