Mobile sports betting nears

At noon Monday, March 11, mobile sports betting will go live in North Carolina. The State Lottery

Commission made the announcement, which sets the date about a week before NCAA March Madness begins.

The announcement also said that starting at noon Friday, March 1, “licensed operators can begin registering accounts for new players and accepting account deposits.”

In June, Gov. Roy Cooper signed House Bill 347: Sports Wagering/Horse Racing Wagering, which legalized mobile sports betting. The bill allows for wagers to be placed outside of casinos and at certain facilities, such as in-person sportsbooks at Spectrum Center and Bank of America Stadium in

Charlotte.

Like with sports betting at sportsbooks in North Carolina, players must be ages 21 or older to place a wager.
