    FRANKLIN

    Swimmers set new bests

    Out of 26 individual swims, the Cherokee County Aquatic Club had 20 personal bests Nov. 18 on the road against Franklin and Smoky Mountain.

    Murphy freshmen Delilah Naylor and Ansley Roper contributed four best times. Delilah had fifth-place finishes in the 200-meter freestyle and 100 backstroke, while Ansley finished third in the 200 individual medley and seventh in the 100 breaststroke.

    Tri-County boys were led by Nathan Abejam, who finished second in the 200 free and third in the 100 back. William Boyd was seventh in the 50 free and third in the 100 free.

    The new swimmers were lead by Logan DiCicco, who finished eighth in the 50 free and fourth in the 100 free. Griffin Croteau-Schreiner and Elias Diaz did not make the top 10 in the 50, but did finish eighth and ninth, respectively, in the 100 freestyle.

    Each of the new swimmers had best times in their individual events. Griffin, William, Logan and Elias finished fourth in the 200 free relay. Meanwhile, Griffin, William, Logan and Nathan finished third in the 400 free relay.

    Tri-County girls contributed seven personal-best times. Ariana Rivas won first place in both the 50 free and 100 back, while Fern Crayton finished first in the 200 free and second in the 100 breast.

    Tina Trigueros was 10th in the 50 free and fifth in the 100 free, Tori Jimenez was sixth in the 200 free and fourth in the 100 butterfly, Jaden Crocker was fifth in the 100 breast and Iris Diaz-Menchu had a best time in the 50 free.

    Ariana, Fern, Tori and Tina combined to take third place in the 200 medley relay. Ariana, Jaden, Tori and Fern finished the meet by finishing second in the 400 free relay.

    Overall, the Tri-County girls were second, Murphy girls third and Tri-County boys third. Coach Frank Bachteler said he was “very proud” of his swimmers.
