Chase beats Pickens’ best
Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase had a brilliant day in the a 34-20 Bengals win over the Arizona Cardinals on Oct. 8, when he became only the fifth National Football League wide receiver to have 15 receptions and three touchdowns in a single game.
In the process, he broke the Bengals’ single-game record for most catches in a game. The previous record belonged to Carl Pickens of Murphy, N.C., who had 13 catches for 204 receiving yards and one touchdown in a 25-20 Bengals win over the Pittsburgh Steelers on Oct. 11, 1998.

College falls into sports
Young Harris pulled off a 3-1 win over the Francis Marion Patriots on Oct. 14 in volleyball (25-23, 20-25, 25-23, 25-2). The Mountain Lions move to 8-12 overall and 5-6 in Conference Carolinas.
In men’s soccer, the Mountain Lions kept the Warriors from scoring in a 1-0 victory over Southern Wesleyan at the Young Harris College Soccer & Lacrosse Field on Oct. 14. The Mountain Lions move to 8-2-3 overall, 7-0-2 in conference.
In woman’s soccer, Charlotte Brown scored two goals to put the Mountain Lions on top of the Warriors 5-1 on Oct. 14. The Mountain Lions move to 7-4-3 overall, 6-3 in conference.
The Young Harris College men's and women's cross-country teams competed at the University of Alabama Huntsville Charger Invitational on Oct. 7. The men finished with a score of 808 in the 8,000-meter run, while the women finished with a score of 1038 in the 5,000-meter run.
Will Ranieri won the Limestone Fall Invite on Oct. 9-10 at the Cherokee National Golf Club with a final score of 4-over par in the par 72 course. The Mountain Lions finished in fourth place as a team with a score of 914.

Free hunting webinars set
The N.C. Wildlife Resources Commission is offering six free hunting webinars through the end of the year. The next free webinar will be on Upland Game Hunting on Friday, Dec. 8.
Classes will be held remotely from 7-8 p.m. and conclude with a 30-minute question-and answer-session. A recording of the presentation will be made available the week following the webinar on the commission’s YouTube channel. There have been four previous webinars on deer hunting, deer processing, squirrel hunting and DU-Waterfowl hunting.
