Camp set for softball
Former Murphy High School softball coach and current Union County (Ga.) High School coach Thomas Nelson will hold a TWN Future Stars Softball Camp after the Fourth of July.
The camp, which is for rising third- through ninth-graders, will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday through Friday, July 5-7, on Field 2 at Konehete Veterans Park.
During the camp, players will run through drills and instruction used by several college programs. Players will be grouped by skill level and have a chance to work on all aspects of the game. The cost of the camp is $60; make all checks payable to Thomas Nelson.
PEACHTREE
Color Run on July 22
The Tri-County Community College Foundation will host its second 5K Color Run on the college’s main campus off of U.S. 64 East Alternate in Peachtree on Saturday, July 22, to raise funds for scholarships.
The event has a $40 registration fee, with each participant being given a T-shirt. All levels of runners are welcome. Register at tricountycc.edu.

Throw camp set July 24
Murphy High School will be holding a camp for interested track & field throwers in grades 6-12 from 9 a.m. to noon Monday, July 24, with registration starting at 8:30.

NANTAHALA
Hoops camp on in August
The Nantahala Recreation Basketball League is hosting a basketball camp this summer for rising first- through eighth-graders from 9-11 a.m. Monday and Tuesday, Aug. 7-8, in the Nantahala School gym.
