Pullium sets school record

Murphy alum and UNCCharlotte sophomore Sarah Pullium set a new school record in the discus throw on her way to a Conference USA title in the event at the conference’s outdoor track and field championships last weekend.

Pullium’s throw of 52.16 meters (171 feet, 11 inches) broke the old mark of 49.93 meters (163’9) set by Victoria Merriweather in 2015. Pullium also finished fifth in the shot put with a new personal record of 14.25 meters (46’9), which makes her the fourth best performer in school history in the event.

At Murphy, Pullium won three N.C. High School Athletic Association 1A state championships in the discus throw. She also was part of two outdoor track and field, and two girls basketball state championship teams.
