Wrestling for titles
The American Championship Wrestling Federation held their monthly event Saturday at the Peachtree Community Center.
This show’s main event was a tables, ladders and chairs match for the ACWF tag-team titles. The American Outlaws successfully defended their belts again Frodo and Stryker of Men of Honor.
The first match of the night ended in a no contest in a match between Mountain Man Jeremy Stile, Flex Ferguson and Damian Hernandez after interference from the outside. Kilawaya successfully defended his ACWF U.S. title against Kevin Seiber after a disqualification, when Seiber teamed up with the American Outlaws and shocked the fans.
Also in action was V.I.P. taking on Hypnahtik, which ended in a double count out. Freak took on Albert Kiser, with Freak securing the win to maintain his momentum. Mike Clay took on Digger James in the co-main event, which ended in a double disqualification.
NORTH CAROLINA
State high for fishing
A new report by Captain Experiences, a fishing and hunting guide reservation platform, ranked popular fishing destination across the country.
North Carolina ranked eighth in the report. During the study period in 2022, North Carolina generated $6,324,127 in annual fishing license revenue from non-residents, a total of 22.1%.
The state issued 275,808 non-resident fishing licenses in 2022, the eighth most of any U.S. state.
The top ranked fishing destination was Florida, followed by Montana and Colorado.
PARIS
N.C. native wins medal
Team U.S.A. women’s rugby secured the bronze medal in rugby sevens on July 30, when they defeated Australia 14-12 with a last-second scoring drive.
Sammy Sullivan, a native of Fayetteville, helped guide the team to a bronze medal. She is the second Tar Heel native to bring a medal back to the state.
In addition to being an Olympic medalist, Sullivan attended Army West Point and plays professional rugby.
