ACWF back on Saturday
The American Championship Wrestling Federation is returning to the Peachtree Community Center at 7 p.m. Saturday for the first-ever Tables, Ladders & Chairs event.
The main event will be a TLC match between the ACWF tag-team champs, The American Outlaws and the Men of Honor (Stryker and Frodo).
Axel Freakin’ Gunn and Killshot look to defend their belts in a rematch of July’s event.
Also on the card, Kevin Seiber returns to take on Kilawaya for the U.S. title, Hypnahtik will go head to head with V.I.P. in what is sure to be another tough match for him, while The Freak will face off against a mystery opponent.
The show is at the Peachtree Community Center, 125 Memory Lane. Doors open at 6 p.m., with the show at 7 p.m.
Tickets are $7 for adults, $5 for kids ages 6-12 and free for ages 5 and under.

Trophies for swim team
The Cherokee County Aquatic Club sent eight swimmers to the Mountain Swim League All-Star meet on July 20.
Maxx Colandrea won first place in the 9-10 boys age group by winning all four of his individual events. Sophia Evans won second in the 13-14 girls age group. Elijah Whitney also secured second place in the 8 and under age group.
Connor Whitney got fourth in the 13-14 boys age group. Mateo Colandrea, 11-12 boys, and Lorelie Whitney, 9-10 girls, were both fifth place in their age groups overall.
Jasher Godsey and Estelle Vaughn also competed in the All-Star meet. Natalie Lowrance, Isaac Vaught and Kalel Holland qualified, but did not compete due to schedule conflicts.
This was the final meet in their summer season. The club is looking to return to the pool in the fall, as well as joining a new league in February 2025.

CCSL fall sign-ups
The Cherokee County Soccer League fall registration is open for boys and girls ages 4-18. Registration is $60, $55 for each additional player.
Practice for each age group will be held in Andrews and Murphy, except 15U and 18U, which will be at Heritage Park in Andrews. Practices begin the week of Aug. 26, and practice days depend on the coach.
Games will run from on Saturdays, Sept. 7 through Oct. 26. There will not be a game on Oct. 12 due to the Cherokee County Fair.
All home games will be played at Heritage Park between 9:30 a.m. and 1 p.m., with the younger age groups getting the earlier time slots. Ages 15U and 18U may have later and weeknight games, U10 and up may have away games in Hayesville, and 15U and 18U will play away games as far as Cherokee and Blairsville, Ga.

Classes set for hunters
A Hunter Education class, taught by the local game warden, will be held from 6-9 p.m. Monday and Tuesday, Aug. 12-13, at the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office, 577 Regal St.
If you are interested in attending, go to the website, select “Log In” to register and sign up. This class is free, with no minimum age, but passing a written test and attendance both nights is required.
