Brasstown – The Know Your Limits Rifle Challenge will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday at Allen’s Garage Private Range, 955 Settawig Road. The event benefits the Pediatric
Cancer Treatment Foundation with 100 percent of the proceeds.
The event is open to .22-caliber rifles with multiple classes to compete in. The first class is for kids ages 8-14. For that age group, class A is for rifles over $1,000 and class B is rifles under $1,000.
The next class is adults. Anyone ages 15 and older is considered to be apart of the adult class for the event. Class A and B are the same for the adult age group. There are two sub classes. One for iron sights and one for scopes.
The rifle challenge will be two rounds, the first at 35 yards and second at 50 yards. Registration is $15 per shooter per class.
There is also a 50/50 shoot off at 100 yards. Shooters will shoot until they miss, then they are eliminated. The last shooter standing wins half of the prize purse. The 50/50 shoot off is $50 per shooter to sign up.
An auction that benefits the Pediatric Cancer Treatment Foundation will also be held Sunday. Some of the items they will be auctioning off include a quilt made from Crown Royal bags and Harley-Davidson towels.
Robert Trigueros of Murphy, director of the Pediatric Cancer Treatment Foundation, said money raised from the event will go to local treatment facilities with children being treated for cancer. One of the things they fund is an iPad room where kids can check out an iPad during the duration of their treatment to use for school, games or to keep in touch with friends.
Trigueros said shooters can expect a fast-paced and fun event Sunday. Those competing are asked to bring 50-100 rounds of ammunition. All weapons must be in a case and unloaded and they must be checked at registration.
To sign up for the event, visit Allen’s Garage or Cherokee Guns in Murphy to fill out a registration form.
