Murphy – Two weeks into the women’s soccer season, the Lady Bulldogs have improved their win streak to five games. Early last week, Murphy added two wins to their season over Tri-County Early College and Smoky Mountain.

On March 11, the Lady Bulldogs defeated Smoky Mountain 1-0. This was Murphy’s third non-conference win, with all three being against 3A schools.

The lone goal in the match came in the second half from Lady Bulldogs’ freshman Haile Hill. Her goal helped Murphy remain undefeated.

The day before, the Lady Bulldogs took on fellow Cherokee County team in Tri-County. Murphy won 6-0 with four goals from Lailee Holloway.

The Lady Dogs scored two goals in a strong first half. Hailee Hill and Lailee Holloway scored the goals.

In the second half, Murphy opened the floodgates that led to their 6-0 win, as Holloway notched two goals in the first six minutes. About 11 minutes into the 40-minute half, Murphy began subbing out starters who played most of the first half.

A few minutes later, Holloway scored her third goal of the half. Isabel Parker scored Murphy’s sixth goal of the game by capitalizing on the rebound after a corner kick.

Holloway led the game with four goals. Hill had one goal and four assists, while Isabel Parker had one goal and 22 steals in the game.

At 5-0 overall and 2-0 in the 1A Smoky Mountain Conference, the Lady Bulldogs sit atop the standings as the only undefeated team.

The Lady Bulldogs play host to Blue Ridge Early College at 6 p.m. Friday.
