Lady Wildcats wrap up season on road

Ronda – The Andrews softball team’s season ended on May 8, when the Valley girls lost 20-0 to East Wilkes. The No. 31 seeded Lady Wildcats (1-14) traveled more than 460 mile round-trip to take on the No. 2 seed Lady Cardinals (23-3).

East Wilkes got out to an early lead with 10 runs in the bottom of the first inning. The Lady Wildcats held them to no runs in the bottom of the second, but East Wilkes scored 10 more runs in the third inning to end the game. Base runners early and often allowed the Lady Cardinals to get the win.

East Wilkes went on to defeat Starmount in the second round to advance to the third round of the playoffs.

The Lady Wildcats ended the season with a 1-14 overall record, 1-11 in the Smoky Mountain Conference. This was their first season under new head coach Regan Holder.
