Lady Eagles’ season ends in first round

Ramseur – The Lady Eagles softball team’s season came to an end May 7, when they lost 10-0 to the Eastern Randolph Wildcats in the first round of the 1A N.C. High School Athletic Association playoffs.

The No. 12 seed Wildcats (12-8) jumped out to a 2-0 in the first inning. After a scoreless frame from both sides, the Wildcats added five more runs to 7-0 through three innings.

After another scoreless inning, the Wildcats ended the game in the fifth inning when they scored three runs to secure the 10-0 win. They had 10 runs on nine hits. Hiwassee Dam (7-10) was not able to bring home a run in their final game of the season.

The Lady Eagles wrapped up their season with a 7-10 overall record, 5-7 in the Smoky Mountain Conference, finishing in fifth place.
