Hayesville – The Andrews and Tri-County track and field teams met March 27 for the second Smoky Mountain Conference meet of the season.
Andrews’ Kylie Donaldson had three first-place finishes on March 27. She finished first in the 100-meter dash, the long jump and triple jump. Kaiya Ellis got first in the 100m hurdles. The girls relay team got first in the 4x100m.
To round out the Andrews girls’ first-place finishes, Alexis Beasley took first in the shot put. On the boys side, Logan Shuler got first in the high jump. Samuel Preston took first in triple jump. Myca Mustin got first in the 800m run.
Andrews did well in a variety of track and field events, finishing with multiple top-five finishes. On the girls side, Hannah Talkington finished fourth in the 200m dash and third in the 100m hurdles. The girls relay team got second place in both the 4x200m and 4x400m relay.
For girls field events, Kaiya Ellis got third and Hannah Talkington fourth in the high jump. In the long jump, Beth Shook took second place. In the triple jump, Ellis got third and Beth Shook fourth. In shot put, Demi Davis was third.
On the boys side, they also had multiple top-five finishes. In the 100m dash, Samuel Preston finished in second and Isaac Patrick finished in fifth. Isaac Patrick also finished in fourth place in the 200m dash.
The boys relay teams finished in third in the 4x100m and 4x200m relays. They also finished in fifth place in the 4x400m relay. For field events, Isaac Patrick finished in fifth in the long jump, while Myca Mustin finished in second place in the triple jump.
Despite not having any first-place finishes, Tri-County had multiple top-five performers on the boys and girls sides.
In the 400m dash, Jaden Crocker finished fourth and MaryLynn Hulsey finished fifth. Ernestrina Trigueros finished in fourth place in the 800m run. Fern Crayon excelled in the distance runs with a second-place finish in both the 1,600m and 3,200m runs.
Kadeesha Sudderth finished in fifth place in the 3,200m run. The girls relay team finished in second in the 4x800m and third in the 4x400m relay. In discus, Jaden Crocker got fourth place.
On the boys side, Sebastian Clevez finished fourth in the 400m dash. Landon Spies finished fourth in the 1,600m run and fifth place in the 3,200m run. Connor Arrowood finished in third place in the 300m hurdles.
The boys relay finished in third in both the 4x400m and 4x800m relays. William Boyd finished in fourth place in the long jump.
The Andrews and Tri-County track teams will head to Robbinsville to compete in their third conference meet today, with events beginning at 3:30 p.m.
