    Willia Mae Kephart Ferguson, 98, of Murphy, loving wife, mother and grandmother, passed away Tuesday, July 5, 2022, at her residence.  
    She was a native of Cherokee County, but had lived in Akron, Ohio, for over 30 years. She returned to Cherokee County in the early 1980s where she made a home in the Peachtree community.
    She was a wonderful grandmother and homemaker. Mae was a member of Peachtree Memorial Baptist Church. Her family would usually find her sitting in her chair with Bible in hand, sewing or quilting. She enjoyed being surrounded by friends and family, and fellowshipping with those she loved.
    She was the daughter of the late Robert Perry and Fannie Mae Allen Kephart, and wife of the late Max Ferguson, who died April 4, 2002. She was also preceded in death by one grandson, Eric John O’Donnell; one great-grandson, Chad Michael Beal Jr.; three sisters, Ruby Ramsey, Ethel Greene and Carrie Ramsey Scruggs; and two brothers, Fred Newton and Robert Garland Kephart.
    She is survived by one son, William Ronnie Ferguson and wife Jan of Grand Forks, N.D.; two daughters, Maxine Ferguson of Murphy and Joy Lee Arthur and husband Chris of Blairstown, Mo.; one sister, Betty Kephart Long of Tucker, Ga.; seven grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and eight great-great grandchildren. She is also survived by many special nieces and nephews.
    Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, July 11, at the old Peachtree Memorial Baptist Church with the Revs. Chester Jones and Noah Crowe officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery. The service will be live streamed on the Ivie Funeral Home Facebook page.  
    In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made in memory of Willia Mae Kephart Ferguson to Peachtree Memorial Baptist Church Youth Ministry, 1650 N.C. 141, Murphy, NC 28906; or to the Cemetery Fund c/o Jim Hendrix at the same address.
    Ivie Funeral Home, Murphy, is in charge of arrangements.
