    Thomas W. Sarvis, 83, of Marble, passed away Tuesday, July 19, 2022, at his residence.
    He was born in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., and grew up in Lakeland and  Zephyrhills, Fla., area. He was a veteran who served in the U.S. Navy.
    Tom moved to Cherokee County in the 1960s with his parents.
    Tom was owner of Apple Valley Locksmith, which he operated for 35 years. Tom was a licensed pilot and owned a few planes over the years.
    He was the son of the late Thomas Wilson Jr. Sarvis and Nellie Sledge Sarvis.  He was preceded in death by two daughters, Catherine Stroud and Bonnie Bevins.
    Surviving are a daughter, Tawana Birchfield and husband David of Marble; five grandchildren, Angela Dailey, David Radney, Michael Babcock, Tommy Fox and Kadie Birchfield; nine great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
    Everyone was welcome to attend the memorial service, which was scheduled for 2-4 p.m. Sunday, July 24, at Western Carolina Airport.
    Ivie Funeral Home, Murphy, was in charge of all arrangements.
