    Thomas Leroy Pickelsimer, 90, of the Peachtree community, Murphy, passed away Monday, Sept. 16, 2019. Mr. Pickelsimer was born March 9, 1929, in Epworth, Ga., to the late J.D. Pickelsimer and Minnie White Pickelsimer.
    He was a member of Peachtree Memorial Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon and Sunday school teacher.
    Mr. Pickelsimer graduated from Epworth High School in 1948.
    He joined the U.S. Army on Nov. 7, 1950, receiving the Occupation Medal while serving in Japan.
    Tom continued his education attending and graduating in 1954 from Young Harris Junior College. Two years later, he graduated in 1956 from Georgia State College with a degree in business management.
    He worked as an insurance agent with Prudential Insurance, was a sales manager with Paul Revere Insurance Co., was a credit and collection manager for Royal Typewriter with Litton Industries, and worked in real estate in Cherokee County before retiring.
    Tom was preceded in death by his father, J.D. Pickelsmer; mother, Minnie White Pickelsimer; sisters, Lois Troll and Jeanette White; and brothers, Wayne Pickelsimer and Lewis Pickelsimer.
    Survivors include his wife, Inez M. Pickelsimer; brother, J. D. Pickelsimer; sisters, Opal Mitchell, Maxine Wood, Irene Larrea and Tressie Camp; nieces and nephews; and great-nieces and nephews also survive.
    Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 19, from Peachtree Memorial Baptist Church, with Drs. Paul King and Chester Jones, and the Rev. Noah Crowe officiating. Music was provided by the church choir. Interment followed in the church cemetery. Pallbearers were Chris King, Jimmy Robinson, Matt Rogers, Steve Christopher, Eric Teague and Mack Cowan.
    Arrangements were entrusted to Cochran Funeral Home of Murphy.
