    Thomas Ronnie Burrell, 71, of Murphy, passed away Thursday, June 3, 2021.
    He was a native and lifelong resident of Cherokee County, and the son of the late Thomas and Georgia Panther Burrell.
    Thomas was a U.S. Army veteran. He retired with 21 years of service.
    He worked at Stiles Furniture and Eller & Owens.
    Thomas loved to detail his cars and collect coins.
    He was a member of Hanging Dog Baptist Church.
    In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Bryce Burrell; one grandson, Ethan Picon; and one brother, Dennis Burrell.
    He is survived by his wife, Patricia Burrell; two sons, Shannon Phillips and Brett Burrell; one daughter, Brittanee Burrell; four brothers, Henry, Ricky, Joe and Jack Burrell; two sisters, Brenda Roach and Vickie Caw; six grandchildren, Blake Phillips, Evan Burrell, Paisley Burrell, Elena Martinez, Aliyah Martinez and Jose Nieva; and several nieces and nephews.
    Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, June 12, at Townson-Rose Funeral Home in Murphy. The Rev. Trey Rogers officiated. Music was provided by Tina Lundy. Burial was in Peachtree Community Cemetery with military graveside rites being conducted by American Legion Post 96 Murphy, American Legion Post 532 Hayesville, VFW Post 6812, Hayesville, and the Marine Corps League Marble. Pallbearers were the active military.
    The family received friends from noon-2 p.m. Saturday, June 12, at Townson-Rose Funeral Home Chapel in Murphy.
