It is with deep sorrow and much love that we mourn the passing of a most beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. Surrounded by loved ones, Sherry Lynn Breazeale of Andrews peacefully gained her angel wings on Wednesday, Jan. 26, 2022.
To know Sherry was to know love. She was the kind of person who just had more love in her heart for the more people who joined her life.
Sherry was born Oct. 18, 1947, in Atlanta, Ga., to the late James Milton Cosby and Catherine Harmon Cosby.
She fully embraced her role as a daughter and later as an older sister to her first and dearest friend, Sandra, and again with her most adored brother, Dennis.
After living in various locations during the early years of their marriage, Sherry and her late husband, Jerry Wayne Breazeale, settled into their forever home in Andrews with their three sons, Brandy, Kelly and Reid. Many happy years were spent mothering these three rowdy boys and countless memories were made with their cousins, who Sherry dearly loved being an aunt to.
In addition to her parents and husband, Sherry was preceded in death by her brother, Dennis Cosby; and two sons, Brandy and Kelly Breazeale. Each of these losses were extremely difficulty for Sherry but knowing that she would one day be reunited with these loved ones, she continued to be a bright spark in this world. Sherry loved her husband and boys fiercely, and only one thing could rival this: her love of being a grandmother. Simply put, Sherry’s greatest happiness was being a grandmother, and she was called “Nanny” by those she loved the most.
Sherry will be deeply missed by many, but especially by her son, Milton Reid Breazeale; sister and brother-in-law, Sandra and Larry Nix; sister-in-law, Vickie Cosby; brother-in-law, Harry Breazeale and wife Nancy; brother-in-law, Mike Dalrymple and wife Juanita; sisters-in-law, Anne Sequra, Mary Dalrymple, and Sue Dalrymple Coley; daughters-in-law, Debra Breazeale, Robin Breazeale, and Judy Graham; nieces and nephews; 16 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren; and numerous other relatives and friends.
The simplest pleasures in life brought great joy to Sherry and despite health-related challenges, she had an uncanny ability to find happiness each day. This was often expressed through her enthusiastic laughter that was contagious to any ear fortunate to hear it. Those who were blessed to know Sherry understand that her legacy of love and laughter will live on forever through the imprint she left on our hearts.
The family and close friends will gather for a private Celebration of Life.
