    Russell F. Rung, 82, of Murphy, passed away Tuesday, June 1, 2021, in an Asheville care center.
    He was a native of Cohocton, N.Y., before moving to Lockport, N.Y., where he had lived most of his life.  
    Russell had worked for Harrison Radiator Manufacturing for over 30 years. Following his retirement, he moved to Murphy.
    He enjoyed antique automobile restoration and was an avid Sports Car Club of America Racing fan, of which he was a 40-year member. Russell enjoyed the outdoors, camping, and boating with his family and friends.
    He was a member of Murphy Presbyterian Church.
    He was the son of the late Harry Edward and Ruth Webster Rung. In addition, he was preceded in death by his wife, Judith W. Rung; mother of his two eldest children, Diane Spears; and a son, Clay Rung.
    He is survived by four sons, Corry Rung and wife Colene of Bandera, Texas; Mark Nicholas of Middleport, N.Y.; Jon Nicholas of Laurel, Ind.; and Timothy Rung of Murphy; a sister, Judith Werth and husband William of Rochester, N.Y.; three grandchildren, Kodi Frodin of Ridgecrest, Calif.; Hayden and Chase Rung of Bandera, Texas; two nieces, Heather Mouw and husband Steven of Avon, N.Y.; Heidi Leberman and husband Russ of Manchester, N.H.; and nephew, Chris Werth and wife Kimberly of Rochester, N.Y.
    Graveside services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, June 13, at the Peachtree Community Cemetery, where he was interred beside his wife. The Rev. Larry Wilson officiated, and the family served as pallbearers.
    Ivie Funeral Home, Murphy, was in charge of all arrangements.
