Mrs. Ruby Mae Dockery, age 81, of Wesley Mtn. Drive in Blairsville, Ga., passed away peacefully on Saturday, Oct. 8, 2022 in the Union General Hospital following an extended illness.

    Mrs. Dockery was born on May 26, 1941 in Hayesville. She was the daughter of the late Joe Lee and the late Clyde Carter Lee.

    She had worked at the Folk School for more than 15 years and had also worked in the lunchroom at the Hayesville Schools for many years. She was a loving mother and grandmother and was a friend to many.

    She was preceded in death by her husband, the Rev. Frank Dockery in 2011, her daughter, Shirley Grizzle in 2005, her son, Mark Dockery in 2009 and two brothers, Ralph and James Lee.

    She was a lifelong resident of Union and Clay Counties. Mrs. Dockery was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church.

    Surviving Mrs. Dockery are one daughter and son-in-law, Becky and Michael Noe of Cleveland, Tenn., two sister-in-laws, Geneva Lee and Pauline Beavers both of Blairsville, brother-in-law, Howard Dockery of Dalton, Ga., five grandchildren, Haley and Casey McKim, Austin Noe, Aaron,

    Andy and Chase Dockery. Several nieces, nephews, as well as many other relatives and friends also survive.

    Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 11, 2022 from the Mountain View chapel with the Revs. Rudy Tribble and Dwayne Patterson officiating. Special music will be presented by Ned Wilcoxon and Ralph Grice.

    The following gentlemen served as pallbearers: Johnny Kernie, Tony Gilbert, Waymon Morgan, Randy Zimmerman II, Austin Noe and Andy Mathis. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Tommy Dockery, Troy Dockery and Brian Mason.

    Interment followed in the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church Cemetery where she will rest next to her beloved husband Frank. Flowers were accepted, or if you wish, the family requests that donations may be made to the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church Cemetery fund in Mrs. Dockery’s memory.

    The family met with friends at the funeral home on Tuesday from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m.
