    Rocky Lane Truett, 64, of Nebo, N.C., went to be with the Lord on Monday, Jan. 18, 2021, at CarePartners Hospice Solace Center in Asheville.
    He was born in McDowell County on Feb. 16, 1956.
    Rocky enjoyed trout fishing with his late father, Bobby Jack Truett.
    He loved the Lord and was an active member of Bethel Free Will Baptist Church.
    Rocky was an avid fan of the Carolina Tarheels and McDowell Titans. He attended as many Titan games as possible and was a regular in the locker room as well. He was loved immensely by all the coaches, athletes and fans through the years.
    In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by two siblings, Brenda Truett and Randey Truett.  
    He is survived by his mother, Margaret Howell Truett; aunts and uncles, Bobby and Chrissy Howell, Judy Lloyd, Patricia Mathis, Martha Howell, Jimmy and Sallie Howell, and Donald Jaynes; cousins, Hattie and Ronnie Hollifield; and numerous other aunts, uncles and cousins.
    Due to COVID-19, a private graveside service will be held at Bethel Free Will Baptist Church Cemetery with the Revs. Larry Anderson and Ray Stockton officiating.
    A celebration of Rocky’s life will be held at a later date when conditions permit.
    In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be directed to Bethel Free Will Baptist Church or to McDowell High School Athletics in Rocky’s name.
