Robert Hamilton
Robert Alexander Hamilton, 59, of Andrews, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, May 12, 2022, surrounded by his family.
Robert was born in Wilmington, Del.
After serving in the U.S. Air Force, he lived in Columbus, Ohio, before moving to Andrews to be near his family more than 30 years ago.
He was the owner of Sounds Good Electronics in Andrews, and he also enjoyed providing the music and sound for many community events in the area. The community will remember his giving spirit, incredible electronic knowledge and good humor – a man who loved his family and town.
He was a member of Andrews Presbyterian Church.
Robert also enjoyed providing entertainment for parades, car shows, school events, his Christmas lighted vehicle called “Car-Truck.” Robert provided music from his beloved “Gig-Rig,” which was his main mobile, musical van. He also built a “Scooby Doo Mystery Machine,” which he brought to many events for children as well as the community.
Robert was the husband of the late Allison Horne Hamilton, who passed away on April 6, 2022.
Surviving are his mother, Helen Hamilton, (wife of the late Rev. Frank Hamilton); son, Ryan Hamilton, and son Christopher (Jessica) Hamilton and stepfather to Nicholas (Amanda) Smith; two sisters, Nancy Kimble and Elizabeth (Doug) Derreberry; and two brothers, Richard (Teresa), and Russell (Cyndi). Robert was grandfather to Aiden Hamilton and Summer Smith. He also was a great uncle to his many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, May 22, at Townson-Rose Funeral Home, Andrews, with Dr. Grady Hester and the Rev. Larry Wilson officiating. Military rites will be conducted by American Legion Post 96, Murphy, American Legion Post 532 Hayesville and VFW Post 6812.
The family will receive friends from 1-2 p.m. Sunday, May 22, prior to the services at the funeral home.
