    Ollie Martin, 83, of Brasstown, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, Nov. 30, 2022.
    She was a native of the Hanging Dog community, and a member of Little Brasstown Baptist Church.  She worked at Levi’s for nearly 25 years.
    Ollie was an amazing cook and no one ever left her house hungry. She was also a loving mother, grandmother and wife who loved her family dearly. But most importantly, she loved her Lord. Ollie wanted to help those in need or hurting. She loved her vegetable garden and working in flower beds.  
    She was the daughter of the late Bob and Hannah Daily McDonald. She was also preceded in death by three sisters, Lenore Totherow, Genive Totherow and Belvia Caldwell; and two brothers, Bud and Will McDonald.
    Surviving are her husband of 62 years, Fred Martin Jr. of Brasstown; three sons, Steve Martin of Brasstown, Keith Martin and wife Mary Ann of Murphy and Jeff Martin and wife Cindy of Brasstown; four grandchildren, Andrea Roys and husband Josh, Melissa Martin, Heather Samartino and husband Philip and Daniel Martin; two sisters, Nina Graves and husband Junior of Murphy and Ellen Seabolt of Covington, Ga.; and two great-grandchildren, Nora and Luke Roys.
    Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 3, in the chapel of Ivie Funeral Home, Murphy, with the Rev. Aud Brown and Garth Cooke officiating. Interment was in Hanging Dog Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers were Daniel Martin, Philip Samartino, Josh Roys, Robert Caldwell, Jim Totherow and David McDonald. Honorary pallbearers were Rhuel Hughes, Ted Hughes, Matt Helms, David Martin and William Caldwell.
    The family received friends from noon-1:45 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 3, at Ivie Funeral Home, Murphy, prior to the services.
    In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made in memory of Ollie Martin to Gideons International, P.O. Box 164, Murphy, NC 28906.
