Oliver Flowers
Oliver Odell Flowers, 81, of Andrews, passed away Monday, Jan. 31, 2022.
He was born Nov. 29, 1940, in Cherokee County to the late Roy Ernest and Margaret Smith Flowers.
Oliver had worked as a general contractor in construction for 45 years.
He had served in the United States Army in the 16th Artillery.
Oliver had served as a deacon and was of the Baptist faith. He was noted for his knowledge of the Bible.
Oliver was an avid sportsman.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by two brothers, Carol Dean Flowers and Dan Flowers; and four sisters, Ruth Clark, Sara Lee Gladden, June Earwood and Reba Cable.
Surviving is his wife of 61 years, Gerda Krause Flowers; three sons, Edwin Flowers, Larry Flowers and wife Freda, and Brian Flowers and wife Courtney; a daughter, Linda Truett and husband Tony; 12 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Friday, Feb. 4, at Grace Fellowship Baptist Church in Andrews with the Rev. Chuck Davis officiating. Family served as pallbearers. Interment was in Valleytown Cemetery.
The family received friends from 5-7 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 3, at Townson-Rose Chapel in Andrews.
