    Ned Glenn Golden, 64, of Murphy, passed away Sunday, Aug. 1, 2021, after a period of declining health.
    Ned was born Aug. 15, 1956, to the late James and Mildred Golden of Murphy. He was married for 40 years to the late Nancy Whitener Golden, whom he loved and cherished.
    He was a member of Hanging Dog Baptist Church. He was a Baptist minister for more than 35 years and pastored many churches in the area during that time. Ned was a third-degree mason and past master at Masonic Lodge 146, as well as a member of the Oasis Shriners.
    He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Mildred Golden; wife, Nancy Whitener Golden; and infant brother, James Donald Golden.
    He is survived by his children, Kayala Golden of Murphy, and Cody Golden and wife Shelby of Murphy; grandchildren, Harper Messer and James Golden; sister Joan Helton, sister Kathy Gentry and husband David, brother Steve Golden and wife Shirlene, sister Sherri Golden, sister Peggy Graham and husband Ashley, brother Warren Golden and wife Trish, brother Mark Golden and wife Linda, sister Connie Curtis and husband Randy, sister Vonda Simonds and husband Tim, all of Murphy. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews.
    A funeral service will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 3, at Townson-Rose Funeral Home in Murphy. The Rev. Warren Golden will officiate. Burial will be at Simonds Chapel Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Steve Golden, Mark Golden, Tim Dockery, James Tague, Derik Messer and Matthew Helms. Honorary pallbearers will be Willie Stewart, Charles Mathis, Alton Elliot and Danny Sneed.
    The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 3, 2021 at Townson-Rose Funeral Home in Murphy.
    A special thank you from the family to the caregivers, Angela Enloe, Tiana Ware and Ashley Stiles. Also, a special appreciation to Care Partners Hospice Solace Center.
