Mona Lee Wilcox Keenum, 89, passed away Thursday, Feb. 10, 2022.
Mona was the daughter of the late Noah and Ethel McBrayer Wilcox.
She loved life, family and her community. She was an avid sports fan and loved attending Hiwassee Dam basketball games. In addition to watching her family and others play sports, she loved the beautiful mountains and lake life of the Hiwassee Dam community.
She was a member of Reid’s Chapel United Methodist Church on Bear Paw Road. She was devoted to her faith in the Lord and lived her life to reflect her beliefs.
She is survived by her daughter, Lisa Floyd and husband Mac McClarnon of Murphy; her two grandsons, Andrew Garland and wife Bethany Garland of Acworth, Ga., and Brad Garland and wife Paige Garland of Julian, N.C.; four great-grandsons, Connor, Colton, Chase and Caden Garland; and two sisters, Carolyn Henry and husband Bob, and Helen Martin and husband Arnold. She is also survived by a larger extended family of nieces, nephews and cousins.
Services were held Sunday, Feb. 13. Visitation was from 1-3 p.m. with the funeral to follow at 3 p.m. at Reid’s Chapel United Methodist Church, 4281 Lower Bear Paw Road, Murphy, NC 28906. Dr. Bob Boozer officiated.
