    Miranda Jean-Ann West, 41, of Waynesboro, Va., passed away Wednesday, Feb. 2, 2022, at her home.  She was born Dec. 1, 1980, in Raleigh.
    She was a 2003 graduate of UNC-Wilmington, where she received a bachelor’s degree in psychology.
    Miranda began her career at Duke University and worked from 2005 until 2018. While there, she obtained her Masters of Science degree from North Carolina Central University. She then transferred to the University of Virginia where she worked as a clinical research manager in the Department of Emergency Medicine.  
    Miranda loved the theater and was active with The Wayne in Waynesboro.
    She attended GraceBuilt Church and volunteered her time with outreach programs, helping families in need during the holidays and sponsoring families at Christmas.
    She was preceded in death by her maternal grandfather, J.V. Hogan.
    She was the daughter of Michael West and wife Patti of Wake Forest, and Connie Schinaman and husband Joe of Littleton, N.C.; one brother, Michael West II and wife Laura and their son, Mason, of Franklinton, N.C.; two step-brothers, Bobby Connelly and wife Emily and their daughter Rose, and Craig Schinaman; and a step-sister, Stephanie Brewer and her husband, Dustin, and their son Baxter; maternal grandmother, Betty Jean Hogan; and paternal grandparents, Maurice and Elizabeth Ann West. She is also survived by many aunts, uncles and cousins, and her beloved dog, Marlowe.
    Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Monday, Feb. 7, in the chapel of Ivie Funeral Home, Murphy, with the Revs. Aud Brown and Daniel Guenther officiating.
    The family received friends from 11 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. Monday, Feb. 7, at Ivie Funeral Home, Murphy, prior to the service.
    Funeral services were live streamed and viewed on Ivie Funeral Homes Facebook page.
    In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to the University of Virginia Emergency Medicine Pediatric fund, a focus that was near and dear to Miranda’s heart.
