    Michael Jason Kolar Sr., 38, of Murphy, passed away Friday, July 22, 2022.
    He was born in Great Lakes, Ill. Michael had lived in Burnsville, Minn., and was a graduate of Burnsville High School, where he played both football and baseball.
    He moved to Murphy and graduated from Tri-County Community College with an Electrical Associates Degree. He attended Western Carolina University where he pursued a degree in Electrical Engineering.
    Michael worked in construction alongside his brother, Rob. He found his passion in electrical engineering at Snap-on Tools where he worked for the next six years.
    Michael loved swimming and diving in just about any body of water. He enjoyed flying drones with his dad, loved Sunday football being a huge Green Bay Packers fan, and liked golfing and fishing. Michael also enjoyed cooking, and was an accomplished cook. He was a car fanatic and loved fast cars.
    Michael possessed an infectious smile and laughter.
    He was the son of Robert Kolar Jr. and stepmother Robin of Murphy, and Laura Lee Murphy Rhody and stepfather James of Burnsville, Minn.
    He was preceded by his maternal grandparents.
    In addition to his parents, he is survived by a daughter, Chloe Edwards; a son, Michael Jason Kolar Jr.; six siblings, Ashley Kolar, Robert Thomas Kolar, James E. Kolar, Dawn Kolar-Malleris, Natalie Kolar and Katy Rochelle Kolar; and paternal grandparents, John and Marilyn Sturino. He is also survived by seven nieces and nephews, and several aunts and uncles.
    A Celebration of Life will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 20, at Good Shepherd Episcopal Church in Hayesville with Father Bill Breedlove officiating.
    In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Michael Jason Kolar Sr. Memorial Fund. You may bring donations to United Community Bank or mail to 275 Fawn Wood Lane, Murphy, NC 28906.
