    Mary “Alta” Brown Rogers, 80, of Marble, passed away Monday, July 25, 2022, at Abernethy Laurels in Newton.
    She was born Oct. 14, 1941, in Cherokee County to the late James “Lee” Brown and Mary “Adeline” Pullium Brown.
    Alta was a member of Marble Springs Baptist Church in Marble, and a graduate of Western Carolina University, earning a bachelor’s degree in nursing.  She loved her family and being a pastor’s wife. Alta enjoyed the nursing profession and had careers in Med Surg nursing and Public Health.
    In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, the Rev. Glenn Rogers; and sister, Nina Lunsford.
    Those left to cherish her memory are daughters, LaRue Rogers Neilson and husband Joel of Terrell, and Glenda Rogers Sigmon and husband Jeff of Claremont; brother: Roy Brown and wife Ruby of Andrews; brother-in-law, Hoyt Lunsford of Marble; sisters-in-law, Joyce McColley of Marble, and Joanne Rogers of Marble; grandchildren, Jacob Neilson, Keaton Neilson, Hailey Heatwole, Hayes Heatwole, Nathanael Sigmon and Carson Sigmon; and a beloved family of nieces and nephews.
    A service to celebrate Alta’s life was held at 3 p.m. Saturday, July 30, at Marble Springs Baptist Church, 80 Marble Road in Marble. The Rev. Dr.  John Bailey officiated. The family received friends prior to the service from 2-2:45 p.m. Saturday, July 30, at Marble Springs Baptist Church.
