    Mary Jane Owens, 96, of Hayesville, passed away Friday, April 2, 2021.
    She was the daughter of the late James Hamilton Coffey and Mollie Louise Hyatt Coffey.
    She was a member of Pine Log Baptist Church and Little Brasstown Baptist Church.
    She had worked at Clifton, Levi’s and Cato’s.
    Mary loved her family. She enjoyed quilting, canning, flowers and playing Yahtzee. She had the most beautiful alto voice and loved to sing in the church choir. She loved her country music at the Georgia Mountain Fair, for which she had season tickets for many years. She has a fantastic cook and baker.
    In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Owens; her brothers, Dexter Coffey, Zeb Coffey, J.L. Coffey, Birder Coffey, James Coffey and Austin Coffey; her daughter, Mary Ruth Penland; and her infant twin sisters, Ora and Lora.
    She is survived by her brother, Fred Coffey; her son, Larry Joe Owens and wife Ann; her daughters, Shirley Rachel Taylor, Loretta Hughes and husband Bob, and Camille Brown and husband Rondall; her grandchildren, Chris Penland, Gina Taylor, Dana Taylor, Melody Taylor, Josh Owens, Amanda Owens, Lynsey Owens, Lori Hughes, Lee Hughes, Justin Brown and Jessica Brown; her great-grandchildren, Rhea, Lilly, Caris, Kylie, Trey, Rylan, Piper, Raina, Jude, Olivia, Jeremiah, Blakely, Cade, Will, Amelia, Walker, Avery, Alex, Camryn, Owen, Maddie, Will, Wyatt, Alex, Tucker, Cheyanne, Austin, Mixie and Mollie; and her great-great-grandchild, Dorian Taylor; and three of the best caregivers anyone could ever have, Kim, Kathy and Wanda. They treated her with loving kindness and treated her like a princess everyday. We can never thank them enough for their great compassion and care.
    The family would also like to give special thanks to Camille and Rondall for taking care of Mary for so long at their home.
    Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Friday, April 16, at Townson-Rose Funeral Home Chapel in Murphy. The family will receive friends from 1-2 p.m. The Revs. Aud Brown, Ricky Rogers and Danny Hollifield, and Chaplain Justin Brown will officiate. Burial will be at Pine Log Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Bob Hughes, Rondall Brown, Chris Penland, Lee Hughes, Josh Owens and Justin Brown.
