    Marlene Kidd Radford, 74, of Murphy, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 4, 2022.
    She was born May 17, 1947, in Cherokee County to the late Luther and Ida Whitener Kidd.
    Marlene had worked as a secretary/receptionist at Murphy Senior Center, where she retired in 1996.
    She enjoyed spending time with her family, loved gospel music, gardening and loved to cook for everyone. Marlene adored her two grandsons, Jasher Radford and Grant Reid.
    She was a member of Unaka Baptist Church.
    Marlene was preceded in death by four brothers, David Kidd, Luther Kidd Jr., Hobbert Ray Kidd and infant brother Frank Kidd.
    She is survived by her husband, J.C. Radford; son, Jeff Radford and wife Alisha; one daughter, Cyndi Stiles and husband Eddie; brother, Wendell Kidd and wife Betty of Murphy; two sisters, Elizabeth Cannon of Murphy and Joyce Kephart and husband Otis of Alabama; two grandchildren, Brittany Reid and husband David and Jasher Radford; and one great-grandson, Grant Reid.
    Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 9, at Townson-Rose Funeral Home Chapel in Murphy. Preachers Lawrence English, Nathan Rose and Rondal Brown officiated. Burial was in Unaka Cemetery. Pallbearers were David Mashburn, Brian Thompson, Brandon Thompson, Travis Mashburn, Loren Jones and Eric Pullium. Honorary pallbearer was Lewis Jones.
    The family received friends from 6-8 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 8, at Townson-Rose Funeral Home in Murphy.
