Lucy Amos
Body

Lucy Amos, 70, of Murphy, went home to be with our Lord and Savior on Monday, April 4, 2022.
She was a native and lifetime resident of Murphy.
Lucy worked for American Thread for more than 30 years. She enjoyed reading, watching old Westerns and detective shows, and especially talking to family and friends.
She attended Murphy Second Baptist Church. Lucy was a devoted Christian, was faithful in prayer, and her love for the Lord was evident in her daily life. She was a giving woman, her strength and fairness were defining characteristics. She had a calming presence that overwhelmed the room and was a peacemaker.
Lucy lived an uncomplicated life but her love for all of her family members was complex. She knew how to love each of them individually. She loved her family deeply with all her heart.
She was the daughter of the late Claude E. and Ruby Hughes Amos. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Linda Amos; and three brothers, Floyd, Walter and Leonard Amos.
She is survived by her nieces and nephews, whom she loved like her own children, and the feeling and love was mutual, Matthew Amos and wife Julia, Michelle Amos, Erica Pearson and husband Steve, Tim Amos and wife Jennifer, Marc Amos, Paul Amos, Peter Amos and wife Hanafe, and Jonathan Amos; nine great-nieces and nephews; and many cousins.
Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Saturday, April 9, in the chapel of Ivie Funeral Home, Murphy, with the Rev. Ralph Barnard officiating. The interment was in Peachtree Community Cemetery. Pallbearers were Matthew Amos II, Elijah Amos, Gus Pearson, Steve Pearson, Lee Hughes and Eli Barnard.
The family received friends from 1-2:45 p.m. Saturday, April 9, at Ivie Funeral Home, Murphy, prior to the services.
Ivie Funeral Home, Murphy, was in charge of all arrangements.
