Louise Jones

    Louise Morley Jones, 76, of Murphy, passed away Thursday, Feb. 10, 2022.
    She was born Feb. 25, 1945, in Baltimore, Md., to the late John and Alice Stepp Morley.
    Louise was a pharmacy technician for Parker’s in Murphy. She was a bird watcher, loved her grandchildren and her great-grandchildren and was known for her warm hospitality.
    Louise was a member at Peachtree Memorial Baptist Church and was active in WMU.
    In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Melanie Thompson, and a great-grandson, Joshua Tallman.
    Mary is survived by her husband of 56 years, Ernest Jones; daughter, Mary Alice Bowers and husband Danny; son-in-law, Keith Thompson; sisters, Joan Hartness and Janet Thompson; grandchildren, Parker Edison and wife Chelsey, Alice Tallman and husband Caleb and Amanda Thompson; and great-grandchildren, Graeme Thompson, Judah Tallman, Miriam Edison and Morley Edison.
    A funeral service was held at 6:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 11, at Peachtree Memorial Baptist Church. The Rev. Noah Crowe and Dr. Chester Jones officiated. Singers were Jennifer Crowe, Arnold Matthews and Tiffany Carson.
    A graveside service was held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 12, at Unaka Cemetery. The Rev. Paul Jones officiated. Pallbearers were Brian Thompson, Brandon Thompson, Casey Jones, Randy Jones, Jeff Radford and Jason Derreberry. Honorary pallbearers were Bill Norton and Eric Pullium.
    The family received friends from 4-6:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 11, prior to the funeral service.
    In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial gifts be made to Peachtree Memorial Baptist WMU (Minnie Ferguson group), 1650 N.C. 141, Murphy, NC 28906 or to The Gideon’s International, P.O. Box 164, Murphy, NC 28906 for the purchase of Bibles.
