    Lois Evelyn” Flip” Wood Heaton, 97, passed away peacefully on Thursday, Dec. 2, 2021.
    She was a native and resident of Andrews in Cherokee County.
    Evelyn attended Ward-Belmont College in Nashville, Tenn., with a major in music. Evelyn utilized her musical talent by playing the organ for the family church for over 25 years. She was an active member of Andrews United Methodist Church.
    “Flip” is also fondly remembered for running the Andrews community swimming pool at the airport for many years.
    Evelyn was the daughter of the late Edgar A. Wood Sr. and Lena Walker Wood. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Robert Earl Heaton, and her brother Edgar A. Wood Jr., who died Oct. 5, 2008.
    Surviving are her son, Robert Edgar Heaton and his wife, Roslyn; a daughter Elaine Heaton Goff; one grandson, Justin Goff and wife Emily; one great- granddaughter, Scarlett, and a great-grandson, Henry; and a niece and several nephews.
    A Celebration of Life service will be held graveside in the spring at Valleytown Cemetery.
    For the last five years, Evelyn has been a resident of the Tryon Estates Community in Columbus, N.C.
    “Flip” will be remembered for her friendly personality and for her kindness and compassion she had for all those who knew her.
    Her family would like to acknowledge and thank the staff at Tryon for the support, many kindnesses and help to make her time there a wonderful one.
    In lieu of flowers, the family requests any donations be made to United Methodist Church in Andrews or the Community Samaritan Fund at Tryon Estates, P.O. Box 2222, Fort Washington, PA 19034.
