Lillie Mae Cross, 91, of Andrews, passed away Sunday, Dec. 12, 2021, at her residence.
She was a native of Swain County but had lived most of her life in Cherokee County.
She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother.
She was a member of Rowland’s Creek Baptist Church.
She was the daughter of the late Jesse and Zennie Southards Lee, and wife of Arnold Cross, who died June 25, 2001. She was also preceded in death by a sister, Lou Campbell; a brother, Jimmy Lee; and a daughter-in-law, Nancy Adams Cross.
Lillie is survived by two daughters, Jane Waldroup and husband Ronnie of Andrews and Teresa Love of Andrews; three sons, Eddie Cross and wife Maria of Blairsville, Ga., Bill Cross and wife Lavonne of Andrews, and Danny Cross of Andrews; one sister, Nellie Day of Robbinsville; seven grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson; and a special friend and walking buddy, Inez Simpson. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
A private graveside service will be held at Valleytown Cemetery with the Rev. Dana Dockery officiating. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
Ivie Funeral Home, Andrews, is in charge of arrangements.
