Larry Allan Allison, 61, of Murphy, passed away Thursday, June 24, 2021, following an extended illness.
He was a native and lifelong resident of Cherokee County.
Larry was known to be a jack of all trades. He had worked as a welder, heavy equipment operator and builder throughout his life. Larry loved the outdoors and enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was a former racecar driver and kept up with racing.
He was a member of Grape Creek Baptist Church.
He was the son of Helen Deitz of Hayesville, and the late Frank Allison. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Steve Allison.
Surviving, in addition to his mother, are his wife, Vivian Sneed Allison; five children, Carrie Allison of Murphy, Jason Allison of Murphy, Angie Dockery of Murphy, Rebekah Watts of Black Mountain and Autumn Watts of Murphy; two sisters, Vickie Webster and husband Ronald of Blairsville, Ga., and Kelly Burch and husband Brian of Hayesville; and two brothers, Jimmy Allison and wife Glenda of Murphy, and Gary Allison and wife Teresa of Murphy; 10 grandchildren, Evan, Lucas, Jaxson, Greyson and Maveric Allison, Billy and Sheena Dockery, Randy Watts, Jasper Dockery and Elora Crisp; four great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and two biggest supporters, Preston Graves and Joe Barnett.
Funeral services were held 4 p.m. Sunday, June 27, at the chapel of Ivie Funeral Home, Murphy, with the Revs. Steve West and Warren Golden officiating. Inurnment will take place in the Grape Creek Baptist Church Cemetery at a later date. Pallbearers will be Larry’s hunting, fishing and racing buddies.
The family received friends from 2-3:45 p.m. Sunday, June 27, prior to the services at Ivie Funeral Home, Murphy.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Grape Creek Baptist Church Building Fund, 1340 Grape Creek Road, Murphy, NC 28906.
Ivie Funeral Home, Murphy, was in charge of all arrangements.
