Lane Phillips
Lane H. Phillips, 78, of Andrews, passed away Saturday, Feb. 5, 2022, in a Blairsville, Ga., hospital.
He was a native and lifetime resident of Andrews.
Lane had worked at several of the local manufacturers in the area.
He was a member of Red Marble Baptist Church, where he had served as a Sunday School superintendent and in various other positions. He lived his faith every day and witnessed to all that were willing to listen.
Lane enjoyed driving and exploring the Blue Ridge Parkway, seeing the elk in Cataloochee Valley, and sharing the many wonders of these areas with his daughter and granddaughters. He was a fan of the McKameys, The Primitive Quartet, The Inspirations, and the Red Marble Singers, and loved listening to them.
He was the son of the late Donald E. and Laura Mae Derreberry Phillips, and brother of the late Darrell Phillips.
Lane is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Helen Ruth Phillips of Andrews; a daughter, Karen P. Cox and husband Clifford of Saluda, N.C.; two beloved granddaughters, Katie and Kendall Cox of Saluda, N.C.; and a sister, Wanda Adams of Andrews. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins.
A special thank you to Sally Cody, FNP-C, and staff of Chatuge Family Practice, as well as Mountain Home Health, David McMahan, Kendra Cooper and Germaine Schroeder, and additional helpers David West, Brandon Hyde, Colleen Fowler, Travis and Tiffany Yonce, and Johnny and Kaden Postell.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 9, at Red Marble Baptist Church, with the Revs. Mickey Stewart and Marlon Blaylock officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery. Pallbearers will be Brandon Hyde, David McMahan, David West, Kaden Postell, Travis Yonce and Branson Bias. Honorary pallbearers will be Jimmy Hyde, Steve West, Lloyd Donaldson, George Postell, Johnny Postell and Lonnie Postell.
The family will receive friends from noon-1:45 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 9, at Red Marble Baptist Church, prior to the service.
