    Kenneth “Tanky” Thomas, 64, of Murphy, passed away Thursday, Oct. 3, 2019, at his residence.
    He was a native and lifelong resident of Cherokee County, and the son of the late William and Velma Sprinkles Thomas.
    Tanky was a carpenter. He was a member of Ebenezer Baptist Church.
    He is survived by three sons, Johnny, Brett and Brad Thomas; two daughters, Heather and Drew Thomas; one brother, Joel Thomas; one sister, Sandra Coleman; and several grandchildren.
    Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 6, at Townson-Rose Funeral Home Chapel in Murphy. The Rev. Edward Carter officiated. Burial was in Ebenezer Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers were Morris Graves, Tom Graves, Bryan Graves, Justin Byers, Brett Thomas, Brad Thomas and Joel Thomas.
    The family received friends from 1-3 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 6, at Townson-Rose Funeral Home.
