    Kenneth Edward Lloyd, 75, of Murphy, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, May 28, 2022.
    He was a native of Elizabeth City, N.C.  
    Ken joined the Navy and made E-9 Master Chief at a very young age. He was a Vietnam War veteran and devoted 24 years to his Navy career. Ken had traveled the world with the Navy, but Spain and Italy were his favorite locations.
    He worked for Boeing for the next 22 years in management. He was heavily involved in the development of the C-17 (Globe Master III) program. Ken retired from Boeing in 2009 and came back to his family roots in Murphy.  
    Ken spent many summers visiting his grandmother, Myrtle Lloyd, in Murphy.
    He was a member of the Smoky Mountain Rod and Gun Club, and was an avid gun collector, having a collection of historical guns.  He was a history buff, loved sports cars and even owned a few over the years.
    Ken loved to cook and attended culinary school. He also had a soft side he kept hidden from many.  This side was brought to life through his writings and drawings.
    He was also a member of Andrews First Baptist Church.
    He was the son of the late Jacob Dewey and Barbara Janette King Lloyd. He was also preceded in death by two sisters, Donna Bray and Cindy Rosenheim.
    He is survived by his wife, which he lovingly called his “Lifetime Achievement Award,” Bonnie Leigh Lloyd of Murphy; two sons, Jon Lloyd of Corona, Calif., and Keith Lloyd of Buena Park, Calif.; two step daughters, Janell Marie Loyd and husband Matthew of Marietta, Calif., and Lauren Renee Nunez of Fullerton, Calif.; seven grandchildren, Bergundi Loyd, Kieran Loyd, Crimson Loyd, Isaac Pennington, Daniel Pennington, Autumn Pennington and Desiree Barrueta; and two nephews, Robbie Bray and Cory Hart.
    A Celebration of Life will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, June 5, in the chapel of Ivie Funeral Home, Murphy, with the Rev. Calvin Bobo officiating. Military Honors will be provided by the United States Navy.
    The family requests that live plants or flowers be sent in memory of Kenneth.
    Ivie Funeral Home, Murphy, is in charge of arrangements.
