    Johnny Frank Nichols Jr., 78, of Andrews, passed away Friday, Jan. 21, 2022.
    He was a native and lifelong resident of Cherokee County, born May 7, 1943,  to the late Johnny Frank Nichols Sr. and Myrtle Garrett Nichols. Johnny was an avid outdoorsman. He loved to hunt, fish and gardening. He also loved bluegrass music.
    In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one daughter, Darlene Phillips; and three sisters, Mable Owenby, Frances Burke and Doris Carter.
    He is survived by one son, Johnny Frank Nichols III; one daughter, Frankie Roper (Carroll); six grandchildren, Kristie Oliver, Christopher Bateman, Kevin Roper, Daniel, Bryan and Thomas Justin Nichols; eight great-grandchildren, Kelia Oliver, Spencer Bateman, Luke Nichols, Jordan Oliver, Ansley Roper, Kenyon Nichols, Knox Nichols and Morgan Oliver.
    Funeral services were held at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 25, at Townson-Rose Chapel in Andrews. The Rev. Carroll Roper officiated. Pallbearers were Chris Bateman, Daniel Nichols, Bryan Nichols, Kevin Roper, Jamie Oliver and Luke Nichols. Honorary pallbearer was T.J. Nichols.
    The family received friends from 5-7 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 25, at Townson-Rose Chapel in Andrews.
