   John Edwin Eller, 85, of Marble, passed away Sunday, Jan. 2, 2022, in a Gainesville, Ga., hospital.
   He was a native of Clay County, but lived most of his life in Cherokee County.
   Ed served in the United States Air Force. He worked as an accountant in the timber products industry throughout his life. He had been employed with Timber Products and Warner Carolina Veneer Company.
   He was a member of Upper Peachtree Baptist Church.
   Ed loved taking trips to the beach and driving his Mazda Miata.
   He was the son of the late Virgil Franklin and Sarah DeHart Eller.
   Surviving are his loving wife of 63 years, Janet Eller; two daughters, Sarah Winfrey and husband Robert of Locust, N.C., and Edwina Messer and husband Eugene of Marble; a son, Thurman V. Eller and wife Brenda of Cleveland, Ga.; a sister, Virginia Swanson of Hayesville; 13 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
   A private funeral service will be held at the chapel of Ivie Funeral Home, Murphy with the Rev. Jason Killian officiating. The interment will be in Moss Memorial Baptist Church Cemetery with military graveside rites conducted by Hayesville VFW Post 6812, Hayesville American Legion Post 532, and Murphy American Legion Post 96. Pallbearers will be Eddie Eller, Brandon Watkins, Bryson Hall, Ryan Smith, Ryan Plemmons, Jordan Messer, Melvin Swanson and Doug Stokes.
   Ivie Funeral Home, Murphy, is in charge of all arrangements.
