    Jo Ann Hughes Anderson, 82, of the Peachtree community in Murphy, passed away peacefully on the evening of Saturday, Oct. 1, 2022. She was surrounded by her five daughters and many granddaughters.
    Jo Ann was born in Franklin on Feb. 23, 1940, into a large and loving family. In the 1950s, the family settled in the Peachtree community.
    She married the love of her life in 1963, Jack Anderson. Together they had five daughters.
    Jo Ann was a seamstress, gardener and talented artist. She was a dedicated member of Upper Peachtree Baptist Church, where she enjoyed singing in the church choir.
    In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Anderson; son-in-law, Roger Spiva; and siblings, Grady, Dee, Guy, Jack and Bill Hughes, Joyce Ramsey, Gladys McGaha and Mary Pugh.
    Jo Ann is survived by her daughters, Debbie Spiva (the late Roger Spiva), Donna Anderson (G.W. Hendrix), Pam Johnson (Mike Johnson), Kenny Jo McGrady (Micky McGrady) and Tracey Anderson (Mark Hicks); siblings, Stella Mae Adams, Bonnie Keasler, Johnny Hughes and Howard Hughes; 10 granddaughters, Alexa Spiva (Jonathan Weaver), Sheena Spiva, Rajun McCoy (Thomas Lodwick), Cody Hanley, Tiara Johnson (Danny Wilkins), Amber McGrady, Gena McGrady, Maggie McGrady, Darian Jones (Ben Flaws), McKena McCoy (Brannon McCoy); and 12 great-grandchildren, Trinity Garrett (Ryan Russell), Lindy Garrett, Logan Weaver, Aiden Weaver, Eli Farmer, Traven Mowery, Jacob Poe, Liam Hanley, Mila McCoy, Isaiah Wilkins, Nixon Puccio and Emma Flaws.
    Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 8, at the Townson-Rose Funeral Home Chapel in Murphy. The Rev. Derek Tilley will officiate. Burial will be in Valley River Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Mike Johnson, Mickey McGrady, G.W. Hendrix, Jonathan Weaver, Mark Hicks and Brannon McCoy. Great-grandsons will serve as honorary pallbearers: Logan, Eli, Traven, Aiden, Jacob, Liam, Isaiah and Nixon.
    The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 7, at Townson-Rose Funeral Home in Murphy.
