    Janice L. Raxter, 76, of Murphy, passed away Saturday, Aug. 8, 2020.
    She was born in Andrews but was raised in Roanoke Rapids.
    She loved living in Atlanta and at the beach, but chose to retire in the western North Carolina mountains.
    Jan was a graduate of Western Carolina University. After an early career in computer programming and customer support, she spent many years in the hotel and real estate industries.
    She was a member of Andrews First Baptist Church.
    Jan was also an avid reader and enjoyed raising butterflies and sewing.
    She was the daughter of Gladys Sharp Raxter of Andrews and the late Ray Rudolph Raxter.
    Surviving, in addition to her mother, are two sisters, Jean Raxter of Marietta, Ga., and Kimberly Raxter Sheridan and husband Jim, of Johns Creek, Ga.; a brother; Ronald Raxter of Asheville; four nieces, Tamara Van Tuyl, Alyssa Van Tuyl Liedke, Alexandra Raxter and Katie Sheridan; and a nephew, Matthew Sheridan.
    Memorial services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 26, in the chapel of Ivie Funeral Home, Andrews, with Dr. Calvin Bobo officiating.
    Ivie Funeral Home, Andrews, is in charge of all arrangements.
