    James A. Mason, 89, of Lula, Ga., and formerly of Blairsville, Ga., passed away Monday, Aug. 2, 2021, at his home.
    Mr. Mason was born in Andrews, a son of the late Henry McGilbert Mason and Margaret Luziene Morgan Mason.
    James proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy, as a Petty Officer.
    He was a member of First Baptist Church of Blairsville.
    Surviving family members include his wife, Kay Cheek Mason of Lula; daughter and son-in-law, Rhonda Kay and Brian Rogers of Lula; daughter and fiance Hope Elaine Seeber and Jared Skelton of Woodstock, Ga.; and son, James Daniel “Jimmy” Mason, of Lula; brother, Verlus Mason of Cary, and sister, Maxine Mackey of Knoxville, Tenn.; grandchildren, Blake Mason Rogers (Lorena), Leah Hope Rogers, Britton Joseph Seeber, Karsyn Raye Skelton and Karaline Alexis Skelton; many other relatives and friends also survive.
    Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 7, in the Chapel of Cochran Funeral Home. Burial was Saturday in Red Marble Baptist Church Cemetery.
