James R. Hogan, 83, of Murphy, passed away Thursday, Sept. 8, 2022, in a Chattanooga, Tenn., hospital.
He was a native and lifetime resident of Cherokee County.
James had served in the U.S. Navy. He then began a long career as a barber working for himself at Hogan’s Barber Shop for over 50 years.
He was of the Baptist faith.
He was the son of the late John Wayne and Maggie Ann Anderson Hogan, and husband of the late Karine Walker Hogan, who died Feb. 3, 2020.
James is survived by one son, James R. Hogan II and wife Kim of Murphy; one brother, Jack Hogan and wife Christine of Brasstown; two grandchildren, Jonathan Hogan and Jake Hogan; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
No services are planned.
