Jack R. Stewart, 91, passed away peacefully Friday, March 5, 2021, at his home in Sevierville, Tenn.
Jack was born Nov. 16, 1929, in Andrews to James W. and Mellie Stewart.
He was a veteran having served in the U.S. Army Air Corps. He attended Brevard College and later graduated from the University of Tennessee School of Pharmacy in Memphis. He was a member of the Professional Pharmacy Fraternity, Phi Delta Chi and graduated at the top of his class.
Jack worked as a pharmacist in Sevierville for over 60 years, having established Stewart’s Drugs in Sevierville and Pigeon Forge, Tenn. He was passionate about his career in pharmacy, and was devoted to caring for and serving those in Sevier County. Although most of the hours in his day were spent at Stewart’s Drugs, he did love the game of golf.
He was a member of Sevierville First United Methodist Church. Getting to travel to the Holy Land with some of his fellow church members was one of the highlights of his life. He was a Master Mason and a member of the Shriners.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James W. and Mellie Stewart; his wife, Mary Frances Robinson Stewart; son, Jeffrey Stewart; daughters, Jackie Stewart and Wanda Ogle; brothers, Gene B. Stewart and Ned R. Stewart; and grandson, Jonathan Stewart.
He is survived by his sons, Johnnie Stewart (Buren) of Valdosta, Ga., and Jimmie Stewart (Debbie) of Sevierville; daughters, Jerrie Arunthamakun (Dan) of Sevierville and Rhonda (Robert) Powell of Gatlinburg; sister, Gay Frances Stewart Deaver (Warren) of Asheville; and 15 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren.
