    Jack Leon Simonds Jr., 67, of Murphy, passed away Thursday, April 15, 2021.
    He was a native and lifelong resident of Cherokee County, and the son of the late Jack Leon Simonds Sr. and June Williams Simonds.
    He was a self employed carpenter. Jack was well known in the tri-state area.
    Jack enjoyed fishing, hunting and working on the farm. He was a very sociable and friendly person. He always enjoyed a light hearted practical joke.
    In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Alicia Simonds; one brother, Mervin Simonds; and brother-in-law, Mark Allison.
    He is survived by his wife, Sandra Simonds; one son, Justin Simonds and Lauren West; two sisters, Janie Henry and husband Chris, and Ann Cook, and three other sisters; stepmother, Dorothy Simonds; and father- and mother-in-law, James and Doris Allison.
    A graveside service was held at 4 p.m. Sunday, April 18, at Macedonia Baptist Church Cemetery. The Revs. Calvin Murphy and Matthew McDaniel officiated. Music was provided by Ed Vest and Alan Harris.
    Pallbearers were Jim Helton, Denny Laney, Josh Laney, Ryan Henry, Clifton Henry, Mark Farmer, James Hogan and Mike Adams. Honorary pallbearers were Joe Wood, Freddie Rice,
Perry Hogan, Larry, Neal and Gene Kephart, Jacob Bandy, Mike and Steve Curtis, Joel Harris, Keith “Bobie” Beavers, Tim Stalcup, Bobby Thrasher, Bill Baxter, Ken Price, Harvey Standridge, George Sneed, Bryan Clayton, Jackie Bryant, Vinson Sims and Lowell Thomas.
    The family received friends from 1-3 p.m. Sunday, April 18, at Townson-Rose Funeral Home Chapel in Murphy.
    Townson-Rose Funeral Home was in charge of all arrangements.
