Jack Postell
Body

Jack Dixon Postell, 72, of Cherokee County, went to be with his Heavenly Father on Sunday, April 17, 2022, after a brave battle with multiple health isssues.
The world has lost a wonderful father, grandfather “Paw,” husband, brother and friend.
Jack was born Aug. 7, 1949, to the late Garfield and Madge Postell of Cherokee County.
He graduated from Andrews High School in 1967 and pursued a career in textile management. After obtaining his degree, he became a devoted supervisor at Coats America for 37 years. His co-workers became close to his heart and dear friends.
After retirement, you could find Jack with his fishing pole in his hand either on Nantahala Lake or walking Junaluska Creek finding the best fishing holes. If it wasn’t a fishing pole, it was his beloved guitar, picking and grinning with family and friends playing some good ole gospel music. If it wasn’t a guitar, it was his Bible that he carried every Sunday and Wednesday showing love to his Jesus and Red Marble Baptist Church family, which he absolutely cherished. He took his title as deacon very seriously and loved serving his community.
Jack loved many things such as telling a good joke, riding his Chevy truck and hiking up the mountains to go hunting, but his greatest love was his family. He loved his loving wife of 51 years “Mama,” his two children and four grandchildren with all his heart. He was a loving husband, father and Paw. He will be dearly missed by his loved ones.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by two sisters, Elizabeth Trantham and Josie Cutshaw.
Surviving are his wife, Glenda Passmore Postell; a daughter, Jacklyn Postell Smith and husband Loren of Charlotte; a son, Josh Postell and wife Brooke of Andrews; four grandchildren, Tanner and Taylor Postell, and Ridge and Giada Smith; three sisters, Dale Garrison of Hayesville, Becky Cutshaw of Andrews, and Susan Guffey and husband Steve of Knoxville, Tenn.; two brothers, George Postell and wife Trish, and Pat Postell and wife Margie, all of Andrews; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 23, at Red Marble Baptist Church with the Revs. Mickey Stewart, Jim Postell and Justin Cheatham officiating. The interment will be in the church cemetery. Pallbearers will be Josh Postell, Tanner Postell, Loren Smith, Laney Cutshaw, Robert Gee and Justin Cheatham. Honorary pallbearers will be Paul Inskeep, Doug Postell, Ronnie Brooks and Jack Lewis.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Friday, April 22, at Red Marble Baptist Church.
The family requests memorials be made in memory of Jack Dixon Postell to Red Marble Baptist Church, c/o Martha Postell, 1201 Red Marble Road, Andrews, NC 28901.
