    Jack McDonald, 79, of Murphy, passed away Saturday, Nov. 2, 2019, at Erlanger Western Carolina Hospital.
    Jack was born in Cherokee County to Gladys Stiles McDonald and the late Lawton McDonald.
    He loved farming and was a loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather. Jack loved the Lord, and was a deacon at Mount Liberty Baptist Church and member of Journey Fellowship.
    In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his brother, Kenneth McDonald, and grandchild, Jeremy McDonald.
    Jack is survived by his mother, Gladys Stiles McDonald; son, Randall McDonald and wife Misty; daughter, Janet Dockery and husband George; mother of his children, Diane Morrow; sister, Betty Hughes and husband Hurbert; grandchildren, Allyson Murphy,
Tyler McDonald and Starr Sneed; great-grandchildren, Colt and Asher Murphy; sister-in-law, Carolyn McDonald; and several nieces and nephews.
    The family received friends from 6-8 p.m. Monday, Nov. 4, at Townson-Rose Funeral Home in Murphy.
    Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 5, at Townson-Rose Funeral Home in Murphy. Pastors Patrick Garrett and Gerald Derreberry officiated. Pallbearers were Richard Dillard, Donald Panther, Claude Hughes, Ben Crisp, Brian Hughes and Tyler McDonald. Burial was in Mount Liberty Baptist Church Cemetery.
